Resource Therapy
Founded by Professor Gordon Emmerson, Resource Therapy works with the resource states that form part of the personality to carried out a function or role in the past or continues to in the present. This is what we call “Parts Therapy” where we work directly with the parts of Self to understand what is happening psychodynamically. Parts work can help with understanding our internal world, why one part of us wants to do one thing (like go out with friends) and another part doesn’t (wants to stay at home for the evening).
Resource Therapy can be helpful with getting a landscape of our internal world, understand where there is friction or tension within our self, and start to have better relationships between parts of self which fosters harmony and self-compassion.
Resource Therapy complements EMDR therapy by working with blocking beliefs, parts of the personality that may want to protect by avoiding trauma processing or parts that hold conflicting views of the world or goals.
